Who are we?

AFGES is Alsace's student federation. Founded in 1923, it has developed a wide range of student services over its 101-year history of serving the youth of Alsace:

• Student catering, which she created in Strasbourg in 1927, within the “la Gallia” university restaurant, which she managed until 2015. Today, “la Gallia” is a CROUS Strasbourg establishment,
• University sports, with the creation of the Strasbourg Etudiant Club in 1925,
• Health care for students (health service, sanatorium, mutual insurance, etc.). 

AFGES has always been the main force representing Alsatian students. It has a majority in all the bodies where students are represented, and also works with and sits on numerous organizations and local authorities. AFGES' main missions are :

• Representing and defending the interests of Alsatian students,
• Proposing guidelines for local education and youth policies,
• Developing the spirit of association, unity and solidarity among students,
• Career guidance for students and future students,
• The organization of all activities useful to the training of students outside of purely academic work,
• Managing services and works for and on behalf of students,
• Promoting cultural activities and events for students,
• Management of two AGORAé social grocery stores for the most disadvantaged students.
